Brenda Skidmore's Health Tips
Did you know that, nationally, about 175 people in the United States die due to complications of summer heat-related illnesses. Many more suffer the long-term effects of heat strokes and sunburns.
A heat-related illness occurs when the body's inner temperature control system becomes overloaded. Young children are especially vulnerable, as well as those above the age of 65 and those being treated with medications for chronic medical conditions.
Even under normal circumstances, their bodies don't adjust well to sudden and high temperature increases. But, when the vast majority of over-the-counter and prescription medications are used daily to treat a multitude of health conditions, it's hard to determine how often medications have contributed to these unfortunate deaths.
When your body can not shed excessive heat by circulatory exchanges and sweating, or if excessive sweating results in a water/salt imbalance, your body's inner core temperature begins to dangerously rise. Your skin handles about 90 percent of your ability to shed the heat. The heart kicks in to pump more blood to the blood vessels. The blood circulates closer to the skin's surface and excess heat escapes through the pores of your skin into the cooler outside atmosphere.
Ideally, that is how it's supposed to work, if everything is running as nature intended. But for many people, who are taking certain medications, this natural process becomes impaired. Although these precautions are routinely dispensed by pharmacists and doctors, most people ignore this or do not fully understand their risks. And, most people are not routinely drinking nearly enough water to help them combat their vulnerability to extreme heat.
According to Dr. F. Batmanghelidj M.D., author of "Your Body's Many Cries For Water" says,"a vast majority of very frequently used medications are either directly or indirectly strong antihistamines".
Histamine and its subordinate agents originates in the brain. It is the body's primary water regulation system. It releases and distributes water to where it is needed through out the entire body. Dr. 'B' elaborates, "this system becomes increasingly active during the regulation of water requirements of the body. Their action should not be continuously blocked by the use of medications".
Here is the simple truth folks. I know it is incredibly hard to fathom and seems to good to be true but, more likely than not, dehydration complications are what is causing you to think you need to take a medication. We all know that "water" is good for the body. We've all heard this, whether we choose to believe it or not.
Most people do not fully understand how important it really is though. Neither doctors, nor their patients, really understands what can happen to the body when it does not get its daily need of water. NOT coffee, tea, alcohol, sports drinks, sodas, the list is endless. Water, just plain old water.
Dr. 'B' spent the better part of, nearly 30 years, exploring this issue. He dedicated the later part of his life trying to get the conventional medical system to acknowledge this basic fact of life.
You can bet the pharmaceutical industry knows about the important role histamine activity plays inside our bodies. It's not their job to inform us that drugs mess up this natural process. It's business as usual for them, selling you on a cover-up solution to your problem. It's your job to arm yourself with the facts.
Many people have read this one very informative paper back book, and have, remarkably, turned many of their health problems around. It just may be one of the best books you will ever read on this subject, as there aren't too many around that explains it as short, simply, and to the point like this one. Plus there are several letters of testimonials written by health care professionals, who followed this good doctor's words of advice, to help themselves, family, or their patients.
Chronic and systemic physical conditions such as lower back pain (the fifth lumbar disc is especially affected by a lack of water cushioning 95 percent of the time), alzheimer's, ADHD, depression, hypertension, excess weight problems, asthma, allergies, and many, many others all have their origins beginning with the lack of water.
Are you guilty of drinking anything but water? What health problems could you possibly reverse with this simple approach, before you resort to a chemical solution, or surgery? Can you be open minded enough to try this?
What have you got to lose but the pain, cost, and ball and chain around your feet?
